Colorado’s Ironton Distillery Announces Switchback Single Malt In An Aluminum Bottle

Colorado’s Ironton Distillery recently announced its new release, Switchback Single Malt.

Distilled and aged at Ironton’s distillery by head distiller Laura Walters, Switchback Single Malt is made of 100% malted barley. On the nose, there are notes of cantaloupe, stone fruit, cinnamon and caramel, according to official tasting notes. On the palate, it’s sweet, bright, and grassy with a light mouthfeel and defined finish.

Referred to by the distillery as “a whiskey made for adventures,” the new bottling comes in a lightweight, durable aluminum bottle. Once the whiskey has been enjoyed, the bottle can be refilled and used again as a water bottle.

Named after a lost, but not forgotten, mining town in Southern Colorado and the 19th century ‘Ironton Addition’ of Denver that would become known as RiNo today, Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse was co-founded by Kallyn Peterson and Robbie Adams in the same town. The company distills a variety of spirits, whiskeys, liqueurs and bitters with traditional meets modern distillation methods in custom-made stills.

Bottles are available for pre-order online at a special price of $45 and can be picked up directly from Ironton during the local Stay Wild Market on June 19th. Bottles cannot be shipped and must be picked up in person at Ironton in Denver, Colorado. Bottles are $55 after June 18th. Those picking up a preorder must present their ID at pick-up to take home their bottle.
