Tasting Notes

About:

An MGP distilled 95/5 distillation that was aged in both new charred oak and finished for several months in ex-Caribbean rum casks.
Appearance:
Lager
Nose:
Minimum sandalwood, ripe plum, faint toasted corn, mango jam.
Palate:
Cinammon, plum, rum soaked cake.
Finish:
Very light, almost wispy, very long vinous feel.
Comments:
In accordance with the cask finishing trend Redemption released their rye in a rum finish. The combination of rye and rum is not the easiest to work with as the rye spices are not always complementary to the sweetness and funk found in Caribbean rum casks. However these two have managed to balance the two nicely providing an excellent foundation for cocktails.
