Tasting Notes

About:

This is a 10-year-old Kentucky straight rye whiskey that’s single barrel in origin. It is bottled at 92.8 proof and priced at $200.
Appearance:
A gorgeous, slightly lighter amber sits in glass here, showcasing thick legs and moderate viscosity.
Nose:
Hints of warm baking spice and black pepper drift up into the nose on first smell, joined in short order by a nice helping of oak, cloves, a touch of banana, a very slight amount of mint, and a nudge of molasses.
Palate:
First tastes of this bring forth cloves, baking spice, bananas, and a nod of oak, all mixed in a nice blend. Drifting beyond this cluster, you’ll find essences of black pepper, nutmeg, green apples, and a bit of dried cherries.
Finish:
The finish here is pleasant and easygoing, offering a slight hint of spice as it fades off after a few moments.
Comments:
Michter’s 10 Year Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 2024 drinks clean and easy, reflecting spice notes typical of rye but not being overly aggressive in this regard. It is consistent with previous Michter’s ryes, providing an excellent sipping experience.
