Jack Daniel's 10-Year-Old review

Tasting Notes

About:

10-year-old Tennessee whiskey; mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye; bottled at 97 proof and priced at $84.99.
Appearance:
It is a nice moderately dark amber in the glass, with thinner legs and decent viscosity.
Nose:
The aromatics of this are rich in corn and vanilla, reflecting a sweet note right off the bat that’s supplemented by cinnamon, oak, a touch of almonds, and a little tiny raisin.
Palate:
This drinks like what one envisions a decade-old Jack Daniel’s does – mature notes of vanilla, buttered popcorn, a hint of spice, oak, cinnamon, brown sugar, a maple nudge, and some almonds.
Finish:
The finish on this is just okay. It smashes together some sweetness on the back palate before fading away flatly.
Comments:
With Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Batch 3, I do want to like this, I really do, but the finish kicks it a bit to the curb for me. It isn’t a horrible drink; it’s just not one I’m that in love with.
