Of the many semi-regular releases emerging from Heaven Hill’s vast whiskey portfolio, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon’s thrice-a-year offering heralds a consistently well-regarded look at the cask strength side of the well-known Elijah Craig brand. Sent to market in January, May, and September, it is always worth waiting for.

For the first 2024 release, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124, which I’m reviewing here, was bottled at 119 proof, being non-chill filtered and uncut. It shows an age statement of 10 years and 9 months, with this representing the youngest barrel in the batch and varying from edition to edition. It should be noted as well this is the 12th year for the brand’s Barrel Proof line.
Available now, this bourbon is priced at $74.99. As a reminder regarding its labeling schema, the first letter of the batch number indicates which of that year’s releases the bottle was a part of, starting with “A,” while the second digit is a number that determines the month of the year the bottle was released. The third and fourth digits indicate the year.
