Tasting Notes

About:

Old Perth Solera is a small batch, artisan blend from independent bottler Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. Released in winter 2024, this whisky was aged in 70 year old traditional Solera sherry butts before being bottled at natural cask strength of 57.6%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Appearance:
Deep gold to light brown. Thick and oily in the glass.
Nose:
Blackberries, blackcurrants, and raisins macerated in sherry and muscovado sugar. Old leather and dark oak. Ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
Palate:
Full, rich mouthfeel. Heavily sherried dark fruits. Plenty of aged notes with old leather and oak. Woody spices with cinnamon and cloves. Alcohol is well integrated, adding to body and warmth.
Finish:
Long. The dark, sherried fruits linger on the palate with a touch of warming festive spice.
Comments:
A delicious old-school sherried whisky. The quality of those old sherry solera butts shines through. Perfect on a cold evening or, indeed, any time a hankering for a sherried dram arises.
