Tasting Notes:

About:
A rather delicious combination of 3 distinct peated and unpeated distillates from Loch Lomond. Bottled at 46% and matured in 1st fill, refil, and recharred American oak casks – this is a rather unusual and intriguing release from Loch Lomond.
Appearance:
Light Sherry in colour.
Nose:
Peppery smoke, salted caramel, freshly sawn wood – the peated elements move from culinary smoke (burnt herbs) to a more traditional west coast, slightly iodine style of peat smoke.

We’ve got the classic Loch Lomomd ginger syrup note, beeswax, sea salt and a little aromatic chilli.
Palate:
Salty coastal notes with a little firey peat smoke, more burnt herbs, melted marshmallows by the campfire.

There are some big notes of sweetness that fade quickly into smoke and lemony pepper.

A very wood driven style of whisky, too, especially on the second sip. More chewy caramel and toasted oak.
Finish:
Gentle, lingering smoke that rolls around the back of your palate. The peated distillate dominates the style, but it isn’t overly potent…if that makes sense. There is balance. A little mineral driven and salty, with woody spices and black pepper.
Comments:
Great! It’s nice to finally have a peated 25 year old whisky that isn’t absurdly priced, and is bottled at 46%. Fair play to Loch Lomond.
