Tasting Notes:

About:
Glenmorangie’s Tale of Ice Cream is their latest annual release in their whimsical Tales series. Beginning with a Tale of Cake, Glenmorangie has sought to release uniquely finished whiskies with names that they believe best represent the flavor profiles. This whisky was finished in high-vanillin casks. The packaging is light, bright and delightful.
Appearance:
Wheat
Nose:
Heavy cream, full bodied, praline
Palate:
Very light, a hint of oak with a tiny bit of spice on the front palate, it is incredibly thin and makes it difficult to find any specific flavor characteristics or notes.
Finish:
Non-existent
Comments:
I have been a fan of their previous Tales releases, and I am a lover of ice cream as well so this release had me excited. Unfortunately those expectations fell flat on what I found to an overall bland whisky with few to no defining characteristics. The nose truly captured a rich creamy ice cream that I hoped would be reflected in the palate. Perhaps it was the ABV, but it definitely did not embody the flavor profile I would ascribe to ice cream in the way that their previous releases managed to capture the essence of their names. It’s worth picking up if you wish to collect the whole series, but for the whisky collectors who also enjoy opening bottles, this is one you can skip.
