About:
This is a Macallan 1989 released by independent bottler Duncan Taylor as part of their Whisky Galore series. Bottled at 40%, this expression is now hard to find and limited largely to auctions.
Appearance:
Medium gold. Oily in the glass with pronounced legs.
Nose:
Toffee apples in the autumn. Raisin fudge. Oak, vanilla and wood spice.
Palate:
Medium mouthfeel. Elegant sherried fruits with redcurrants, raisins and plums. Orange peel and malt loaf. Refined oak together with vanilla and wood spice.
Finish:
Medium to long. Sherried fruits fading through raisin and walnut fudge into a touch of wood spice.
Comments:
Great quality, tasty and eminently quaffable. Mouthfeel and flavour intensity may benefit from an extra 6-8% on the ABV.
