Limestone Branch Distillery has unveiled its 2025 Yellowstone Limited Edition bourbon, marking the 10th anniversary of the annual series with a blend from both Kentucky and Indiana distilleries. The release combines three distinct mash bills, each aged 10 years, and bottled at 105 proof. Master Distiller Stephen Beam partnered with Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana to create this year’s expression, the first time barrels from both states have been combined for the Limited Edition series. The collaboration represents a departure from previous releases, which have traditionally sourced barrels from single locations.

“We’ve done something different with this special annual release every year since 2015,” said Beam. “This year’s 10-year anniversary Limited Edition represents my natural progression of experimenting with blending, using three unique mash bills to create a remarkable product.

“In partnership with the Ross & Squibb team, we pushed the boundaries of innovation by creating our first blend featuring barrels from the Indiana and Kentucky distilleries – without compromising on our commitment to quality that has kept the Yellowstone Bourbon brand on shelf for more than 150 years.”
Appearance:
Amber with medium legs.
Nose:
This opens slowly and I may not have rested it long enough at first. My nose was hit with a bit of tingly alcohol to start. We open to walnuts, grasses, wheat bread, and burnt sugars. There is a back note of honey glaze and faint apples.
Palate:
Spicey profile out the gate with leather and orange scone about the mid palate. Light up with cigar and tobacco leaf with hints of charcoal. There are pungent but refined earth notes throughout the profile.
Finish:
Rich mouthfeel and quick finish. Overall with hold of nice oak and hints of chocolate. A nice warming note right at the very end before disappearing completely.
Comments:
As a fun aside, I have the original 2015 release of the Yellowstone Limited Edition. It was my wife (at the time girlfriend’s) birthday gift to me after we got engaged. I had just started my bourbon journey and she wanted to surprise me. So with this tasting we tried the 2015 and the 2025 side-by-side the see what we thought of how this expression has changed over time.

10 Year Anniversary – Leaves you wanting a bit more out of the dram. It is good clean with a few spots where the edges show up. Overall it is a very nice whiskey worthy of a spot on the shelf if you already like this profile. It’s a really lovely bottle (I like the redesign) and the price is generally pretty good. $10 per year is a reasonable price over 8 years of aging (to me). I liked this and find it a worthy tribute to the dedication it has taken to get to this point.

2015 v. 2025 comparison – My wife and I tried both and we scored both of these at 8s but prefer the ’15 by a small margin. The ’15 was a blend of multiple ages which I think allowed a greater variation in profile and complexity which was not the same in the 10 year anniversary. However, how much of this was sentimental value of the ’15? I can’t say.

Overall the 2025 is a good whiskey and I think if you have a special whiskey lover in your life, this might be the right pick-up. Even all these years later, and 100’s of bottles, this one (the 2015) still has a special place in my cabinet.
