About:

Found North Batch 011 is a cask-strength blended Canadian whisky crafted to echo the profile of the acclaimed Batch 002. Built on a base of 91% corn, 8% rye, and 1% malted barley, it was distilled in Canada and aged for 18 to 24 years in both new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels.

Matured in Canada, bottled stateside at 64.9% ABV. All Found North releases are non-chill filtered, naturally colored, and free of additives. The release yielded 7,968 bottles and upholds the brand’s reputation for bold, meticulously blended whiskies.

Appearance:

Light Vermont maple syrup.

Nose:

Pepper grilled steak, buttered popcorn, hillside pond.

Palate:

Sweetened fire, then intense rye spiciness. Butter cookie Bahlsen mixed with a demon heat. Pleasant astringency. Sweetness of the corn charred by the fire.

Finish:

The sweetness of the dram, slowly enveloped in fire, long fade into a salted butter memory

Comments:

The rye is the king of this whisky, even if its mashbill is high corn. It is a beautifully balanced blend of Rye Like earlier batches—several of which won Double Gold and other prestigious awards—Batch 011 continues Found North’s tradition of expressive, high-integrity Canadian whisky. And the result is to ensure that they sell out of their releases by lottery. This is not one to miss.
