Tasting Notes

About:

Another offering from the Triple Triple range from Jameson – this type featuring input from ex-Malaga wine casks. If you’re a fan of their Yellow Spot release, this is utilising the same cask influences across the board of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and ex-Malaga wine. It’s adding a wonderful honey, sweet note to what is already a sweet blended whiskey, but it’s very complimentary of the style.

Appearance:
Caramel
Nose:
Tangerine, honey and sweet bourbon casks. Loads of toffee, caramel, empire biscuits, papaya, mango and pineapple.
Palate:
A less spicier affair than the chestnut release, this is classic, sweet Jameson with loads of vanilla, caramel, honey, sweet cream notes, a little note of raisin and a rather constant tangerine and orange note. It isn’t the oil of the fruit, it’s like the juicy centre segments. Super juicy and quite floral.
Finish:
Wafer biscuits, caramel, Spanish latte, a slightly salty note – could mistake it for pistachio. More of that super juicy tangerine!
Comments:
I really like this release. If it was available for regular release rather than in Duty Free, I would buy this over the regular Jameson release every time, and that’s a whiskey I really enjoy.

The addition of Malaga wine casks adds so much fruity, sweet, juicy fruit notes to this product and it’s a massively welcome addition to what is a good, but quite straight forward whiskey in Jameson.

I really welcome the addition of these fun cask influences to the Jameson range. It’s such a solid core bottle that it’s worth the exploring of style, much like what they did with the stout and IPA release a few years ago. They were brilliant, affordable and very simple.

Jameson is such a good whisky to just pour and enjoy. It’s uncomplicated in its flavour, but massively layered in history and importance within the whiskey industry.
