Irish Whiskey Review: Jameson Crested Blended Irish Whiskey

Jameson Crested is a variation on the classic Jameson Blended Irish Whiskey, but instead of a 60% grain and 40% single pot still recipe, it's moved to 80% single pot still and 20% grain, with larger proportions of this being matured in ex-sherry casks.

Tasting Notes:

About:
A variation on the classic Jameson Blended Irish Whiskey, but instead of a 60% grain and 40% single pot still recipe, it’s moved to 80% single pot still and 20% grain, with larger proportions of this being matured in ex-sherry casks. The name Crested comes from Jameson pulling back on a lot of their world wide distribution in the 19th and into the 20th century. Many secondary market blenders were selling on ex-Jameson casks with any old liquid inside it. Jameson pulled back on their wholesale side and the first whiskey released from The Bow Street Distillery, now the Jameson museum, was named Crested.
Appearance:
Soft Gold
Nose:
Lime, caramel, vanilla, white chocolate and a little hint of that grain note. It’s a little mix of pencil shavings and soft wood notes.
Palate:
Classic Jameson! Little hints of different kinds of spice in the mix here. You get all of the soft, sweet notes of Irish whiskey, but with gentle peppery notes from single pot still whiskey, and that pencil shaving, slightly spicy note from the grain.

Outside of this it has these wonderful mint, white chocolate, lime and caramel tastes.
Finish:
Lovely! It’s buttery, sweet, a little spicy and so familiar with those notes of Irish whiskey that everyone loves to taste. It isn’t the longest finish in the world, but for the money it gives you quite a lot of flavour.
Comments:
A wonderful product that takes you to the next step up in the Jameson blended world. I believe this is mostly seen in airports these days, but totally worth picking up if you see it.
