Tasting Notes:

About:
Brown-Forman Shively Distillery product, another in a series of releases celebrating the company’s history in the Prohibition. Old Forester 1924 is an annual release bourbon, distilled from a mash bill of 79% corn, 11% rye, and 10% malted barley.
Appearance:
Ruby straw
Nose:
Cognac, maplewood, vanilla.
Palate:
It’s forceful, and correspondingly rich but not sweet. It has pistachio and toasted buttered roll. It has dried raisin. with a suggestion of forest green.
Finish:
After a powerful but balanced open, stays strongly present for a long time, and then a rapid fade.
Comments:
An intriguing offering from Brown-Forman Shively Distillery. It is well-balanced and typically ‘Old Forester’, but with a slight twist on dry oak and earthiness. The nose suggests a lot of sweetness, but this does not come through on the palate. Overall, it is an easy-drinking bourbon. Not hugely complex. Perhaps a good starter whiskey if you are just beginning to explore.
