Wyoming Whiskey will release its limited-edition bourbon nationwide this fall after initially launching as a state exclusive in June. The bourbon honors the legendary Western showman with a grain-to-glass production in Kirby, Wyoming.

Buffalo Bill Cody Bourbon Expands to 13 States

The national release maintains the same flavor profile as the Wyoming-exclusive version but features a slightly lower proof at 96 proof (48% ABV) compared to the original’s 97 proof. Wyoming Whiskey crafts the bourbon using Wyoming-grown grains and completes all production steps at its Kirby distillery.

“Buffalo Bill Cody will be on shelves starting this fall in select markets, including: Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Maine, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New York, Florida and Colorado,” the company announced.

Wyoming Whiskey Reveals Official Tasting Notes

Official tasting notes describe the bourbon as copper-colored with a nose of leather, Black Forest cake, toffee, and honeyed almonds. The palate features lemon cake with caramel nougat, milk chocolate, almond brittle, and honey. The finish includes cherry and lemon puree, candied ginger, molasses, and tobacco with a drying quality.

The limited-edition bourbon joins Wyoming Whiskey’s portfolio of craft spirits produced in the state.

Buffalo Bill Cody built his reputation as a frontier scout before creating his famous Wild West shows that toured internationally. The bourbon release connects Wyoming’s whiskey-making tradition with one of its most famous historical figures.
