Wyoming Whiskey has announced a special auction of Bottle No. 399 from its Queen of the Tetons limited-edition bourbon, honoring the legendary Grizzly 399, who tragically died in a vehicle collision near Grand Teton National Park last October.

The online auction, hosted by BlockBar, will begin today (April 22, 2025) at 10 AM EST, with all proceeds benefiting the Grand Teton National Park Foundation’s conservation efforts.

Paying Tribute To Grizzly 399

Grizzly 399 captivated wildlife enthusiasts worldwide as the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem’s oldest known reproducing female grizzly. The 7-foot, 400-pound matriarch spent 28 years along the Snake River, raising 18 cubs throughout her remarkable life.

Her death on Oct. 22, 2024, sparked global mourning and renewed focus on wildlife protection in the region’s national parks.

The original Queen of the Tetons release, which debuted in late 2024, sold out its entire 720-bottle production in just 36 hours. Wyoming Whiskey initially donated $20,000 to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation to support grizzly bear education, conservation, and research programs.

Auction Features Renowned Wildlife Photography

The auction lot includes the commemorative Bottle No. 399, an additional sample bottle, and a framed 17-by-30-inch signed print of Thomas D. Mangelsen’s “Spring’s Surprise” photograph featured on the bottle’s back label.

Mangelsen’s image captures Grizzly 399 emerging from hibernation in 2020 with four cubs – an extremely rare occurrence. The photograph holds special significance as it was taken the day Grand Teton National Park reopened following COVID-19 closures.

The limited-edition bourbon offers a palate of white chocolate mocha with notes of red fruit and rich brown sugar, complemented by a nose of honey and ripe field berries with cinnamon spice. Its finish features lingering hints of candied ginger and soft vanilla.
