The brand draws its name from an ancient Scottish battlefield tale. According to legend, a wolf cub’s howl warned Celtic forces of an approaching Norse ambush, leading to a Celtic victory. The site became known as Wolfcraig, and the brand aims to embody that spirit of vigilance and triumph.
González Byass USA Expands Portfolio with Premium Whisky
“Joining González Byass USA is an exciting milestone for Wolfcraig,” says Richard Paterson, Master Blender of Wolfcraig. “Their expertise and proven track record in bringing exceptional brands to the U.S. provides us with a remarkable opportunity to showcase how Wolfcraig defines the premium blended Scotch category. With Ian and myself dedicated to crafting whiskies of unrivaled character, we are confident that Wolfcraig will resonate strongly with discerning American whisky enthusiasts.”

The initial U.S. release includes three expressions. The Wolfcraig 14 Year Old Deluxe Blend features a triple sherry cask finish using Amontillado, Pedro Ximenez, and Muscatel casks. Official tasting notes describe succulent figs, sweet sultanas, and Napoleon cake with demerara sugar and molasses. The finish reveals glazed tangerines, marzipan, and chocolate mousse with ginger and nutmeg. Only 4,401 bottles exist worldwide.
The 30 Year Old Premium Blend marks its first launch anywhere. This gold medal-winning release combines whiskies from all five Scottish regions. Maturation occurs in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. Production totaled 1,472 bottles.
Wolfcraig Brings Rare Aged Whisky to American Market

The oldest expression, the 35 Year Old Blended Grain, includes spirits from closed distilleries. These rare whiskies aged for over three decades in bourbon barrels. Official tasting notes indicate layers of marzipan, toffee apple, citrus fruits, and frangipane. The finish presents grape pulp, lime marmalade, ginger cake with custard, and Swiss white chocolate. Only 1,112 bottles were produced.
González Byass USA CEO Andrew Sinclair notes the existing relationship between Paterson and González Byass on previous projects. “Richard and Gonzalez Byass have worked together for many years on other projects, and now here in the world’s most important Whisky market, we are excited to introduce Wolfcraig, which represents the very best of modern Scotch whisky making, blending heritage with innovation. Their commitment to craftsmanship, storytelling, and quality aligns seamlessly with our mission, and we’re excited to share this bold new brand with whisky enthusiasts across the country.”
The whiskies will appear in select U.S. markets beginning September 2025.
