Kentucky-based Wilderness Trail Distillery is launching a new collection of 6 Year Old Private Barrel offerings, marking a significant age statement milestone for the brand. The permanent lineup includes a Wheated Bourbon, a High-Rye Bourbon, and a Rye Whiskey, all set for a nationwide US release in January 2026.
The new range represents a key development for the Danville distillery, which was founded in 2012 and acquired by Campari Group in a high-profile deal in late 2022.

Each expression is crafted using the distillery’s signature Sweet Mash process, proprietary yeast strains, and aged in barrels with a Level 4 Alligator Char.
The whiskeys are single-barrel, cask-strength, and non-chill filtered.
“At six years, our single barrels hit the sweet spot where our sweet mash fermentation and proprietary yeast strains deliver layered complexity without sacrificing balance,” said Dr. Pat Heist, co-owner and chief scientific officer of Wilderness Trail Distillery.
Heist added: “The Wheated, High-Rye bourbon, and Rye Whiskey selections let enthusiasts choose between softer high-wheat elegance and the vibrant spice and herbal nuance of rye, each barrel a distinct expression of science meeting tradition.”
The Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon 6-Year-Old Private Barrel is priced at US$70.
It is made from a mash bill of 64% corn, 24% wheat, and 12% malted barley.
Official notes from the brand describe sweet and nutty notes, with vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, stone fruit, baking spice, oak, and barrel char.
The Kentucky Straight High-Rye Bourbon 6-Year-Old Private Barrel will also retail for US$70.
Its mash bill consists of 64% corn, 24% rye, and 12% malted barley.
The flavor profile is said to have balanced notes of rye spice, herbal complexity, mint, aromatic tobacco, oak, cherry, citrus, and vanilla.
Completing the trio is the Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 6-Year-Old Private Barrel, priced at US$80.
This expression is made from a mash bill of 56% rye, 33% corn, and 11% malted barley.
The brand describes layered notes of plum, green apple, and citrus, complemented by vanilla, baking spice, gentle oak, and subtle hints of mint and herbs.
All three expressions will be permanently available across the US from the beginning of January 2026. The Wheated Bourbon is currently available for pre-order on ReserveBar.
