The Draftsmen Experience
Virginia Distillery Company, founded by George Moore, Jim Swan, and Harry Cockburn, is excited to launch The Draftsmen Experience, allowing whisky fans to bring their creative visions to life in liquid form.
The Draftsmen experience, held at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C., features a curated selection of bourbon, wine, and sherry cask-finished single malts. Participants blend these components to their taste, then receive their custom creation with personalized bottle and label design. The hands-on program caters to both novice blenders and seasoned whisky enthusiasts.
“At The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., we always strive to create personalized and memorable experiences for our guests,” said Rishi Malhotra, General Manager of The Ritz-

The Ritz-Carlton
The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, with its iconic smokestack dominating the neighborhood skyline, has become the first luxury hotel to create its own exclusive Draftsmen blend. The historic property, which incorporates a renovated turn-of-the-century industrial building from 1932, now features the custom blend in their signature cocktail, ‘The Draftsmen Black Manhattan,’ served at Degrees Bistro.
To mark this distinctive collaboration, the hotel celebrated by gifting bottles of their exclusive blend to guests during the 2025 presidential inauguration, showcasing the property’s commitment to creating memorable experiences.
Bringing Blending Home
For those unable to visit the Georgetown location, Virginia Distillery Company offers The Draftsmen At-Home Blending Kits through their website. Customers can experiment with different blend combinations and order their preferred creation in a 750ml custom bottle with a personalized label, bringing the art of bespoke whisky blending directly to their homes.
A Legacy of Innovation & Luxury
The initiative honors Virginia Distillery Company’s founding visionaries – George Moore, Jim Swan, and Harry Cockburn – who established the distillery’s ambitious vision while overlooking Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Their combined expertise in business, chemistry, and engineering helped shape the company’s innovative approach to American single malt whisky production.
The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown continues to serve as an integral part of the city’s landscape, offering guests intimate hotel experiences alongside modern luxuries. The property features oversized guest rooms and suites, a luxury spa, and twelve dedicated Wellness Rooms with amenities focused on fitness and relaxation.
This collaboration between two premium brands represents a significant development in the American single malt category, which was recently ratified by the TTB.
