Town Branch Distillery has unveiled two annual allocated releases featuring its Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey and 7-Year Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey, both priced at $49.99 and showcasing the distillery’s new blend-to-order approach.

The Lexington-based distillery, which serves as the seventh member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, announced the dual release on August 26th. Both expressions reflect Town Branch’s move toward creating more distinctive, limited releases through custom blending processes.

Town Branch Straight Rye Returns After Three-Year Allocation

The Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey makes its comeback after being allocated in 2022 to preserve blending stocks.

This 100-proof expression blends barrels ranging from four to nine years old, with the oldest barrel dating back over nine years. The whiskey previously earned recognition from Forbes as one of the Best Rye Whiskeys.

According to the official tasting notes, the rye presents a deep golden amber appearance with aromas of sweet cocoa, honey, oak, cherry, dried fruits, ripe berries, pecan pie, cinnamon, and leather. The palate delivers candy apple, fresh citrus, toffee, oak, allspice, dry peppe,r and prunes with a smooth velvety mouthfeel.

The mash bill consists of 90% rye, 5% corn, and 5% malted barley, aged in new American white oak barrels with a #4 char level. The 2025 release will include approximately 475 cases.

Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey Showcases 7-Year Age Statement

Town Branch’s 7-Year Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey represents the distillery’s commitment to the emerging American Single Malt category. Distilled since 2008 on the facility’s double pot stills, the whiskey uses 100% malted barley aged in third-use American white oak barrels previously used for Town Branch Bourbon and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

The 87-proof expression features barrels ranging from seven to ten years old. Official tasting notes describe a light golden honey appearance with aromas of ripe green apple, citrus, almond, honey, cinnamon, and stewed pears. The palate offers oak, walnut, bread crust, slight saltiness, stewed apples, apricots, vanilla, molasses, and honey.

Town Branch claims to maintain the oldest Kentucky Single Malt stocks in the world. The whiskey has previously been named Best Small Batch Single Malt by World Whiskies Awards. Approximately 487 cases will be available in the 2025 release.

The careful distillation and blending of these expressions showcases Town Branch’s attention to detail, and high expectations for its spirits. “Don’t just make something, make something great,” says Robert Krass, Managing Director at Town Branch Distillery. “The team is under strict instruction not to stop until they love it—for example, our straight rye whiskey alone took over 15 micro-blends before we got it right, but we got it.”

Both expressions retail at $49.99 per 750ml bottle.
