Tomatin Distillery has announced the retirement of Graham Eunson, Master Distiller and Distillery Operations Director, after an illustrious 34-year career in the whisky industry.

Eunson, who joined the Highland distillery in 2011, will step down from his leadership role on May 30, 2025. During his 14-year tenure, he has overseen all operational aspects of the facility, including distillation, warehousing, laboratory functions, and visitor experiences.

Graham Eunson’s Distinguished Career

Eunson’s responsibilities have included managing over 156,000 casks annually, including heritage casks in Warehouse 6 used for Tomatin’s oldest and rarest Highland single malt whiskies.“Tomatin is an exceptional distillery, and my time working here is one of the high points of my career,” Eunson said. “I joined Tomatin with the idea that we are all just custodians, and with one goal – to leave the distillery in a better place than I found it.”His expertise extended beyond Tomatin’s flagship expressions to include the lightly-peated Cù Bòcan range and the recent relaunch of The Antiquary blended whisky collection in 2024.Following Eunson’s departure, his responsibilities will be distributed among Tomatin’s leadership team, including Distillery Manager Jamie Muir, HSQE Director Fiona Birkinshaw, and Blender and Global Brand Ambassador Scott Adamson.

Tomatin Legacy Makers – Graham Eunson

To honor Eunson’s contributions, Tomatin has released Legacy Makers – Graham Eunson edition, a limited-edition single malt with only 514 bottles available worldwide. The commemorative whisky combines spirit from two casks – a refill hogshead filled in 1990, marking Eunson’s industry entry, and a French oak barrique filled in 2011, representing his arrival at Tomatin.Bottled at 112.2 proof (56.1% ABV) and priced at £150, the whisky boasts Tomatin’s signature notes of stewed red fruits and apple crumble, with layers of dried tropical fruits on the palate.

More than a tribute, this whisky is Graham’s legacy in liquid form. He will be greatly missed at the distillery, and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”Reflecting further on his upcoming retirement, Eunson said: “I’d like to think the legacy I’ve left is a top-notch whisky which can be enjoyed around the world in the future. I’m also proud of the fact that both of my children, Scott and Kirstie, work in the industry as well, which is fantastic to see.”The Tomatin Legacy Makers – Graham Eunson edition is now available from the distillery website and select independent whisky retailers.
