A new blended scotch whisky aimed at attracting younger drinkers has earned recognition at a prestigious industry competition just months after launching in the UK and Europe.
The Nite Owl Blended Scotch Whisky received a Silver medal at The Scotch Whisky Masters 2025, a competition judged by The Spirits Business. The Glasgow-based brand positions itself as a versatile spirit designed for nighttime occasions and cocktail mixing rather than traditional whisky consumption.

The Nite Owl Targets New Whisky Drinkers
The blend combines malt and grain scotch whiskies and retails for an MSRP of £22 per bottle through UK specialist retailers and online platforms including maltofthemonth.co.uk and masterofmalt.com. The brand recommends serving the whisky with grapefruit soda and lime or in cocktails, departing from conventional neat serving suggestions.
“Winning Silver at The Scotch Whisky Masters is a huge endorsement of what The Nite Owl set out to achieve. We launched with a clear mission: to reimagine blended Scotch for new drinkers and new occasions,” said Antonia Macfarlane, Business Development Manager of The Nite Owl. “We launched with a clear mission: to reimagine blended scotch for new drinkers and new occasions. This recognition shows that innovation and quality can coexist and that the night belongs to bold ideas. We look forward to seeing The Nite Owl in flight!”
The official tasting notes describe the whisky’s color as copper hues and golden honey. The nose features juicy pineapple, zesty orange and crème brûlée. On the palate, tasters detect blood orange, zesty lime, birthday cake, coconut and bar nuts.
The Nite Owl Joins Growing Trend of Accessible Whiskies
The brand’s approach reflects broader industry efforts to attract consumers who might not typically choose whisky. By emphasizing cocktail applications and contemporary branding, The Nite Owl aims to expand beyond traditional whisky demographics.
The Scotch Whisky Masters competition evaluates entries across multiple categories, with medals awarded based on quality and character. Silver medals indicate products that demonstrate high standards within their category.
The Nite Owl is owned by Distilled Beverages Ltd, an independent Glasgow-based family company founded in 2023. The team includes industry professionals with credentials such as Keeper of the Quaich membership and WSET Diploma certification.
The whisky launched in the UK and European markets earlier this year, with the award coming within months of its debut. The brand maintains an active social media presence through @niteowlwhisky on Instagram.
