The Lakes Distillery has announced the launch of its latest global travel retail exclusive, The Lakes Ascent single malt whisky, priced at £149.90 (~$200). The new release expands the English distillery’s luxury portfolio for international airports and duty-free stores.
The Lakes Distillery Ascent Debuts at TFWA Cannes
The whisky made its debut at TFWA Cannes, the premier travel retail trade show. The Lakes Ascent showcases the distillery’s signature élevage technique, which the company describes as its “pioneering art of flavor development.” The maturation process involves European and American oak casks previously containing sherry, red wine, and bourbon, with a final period in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
According to official tasting notes, the whisky presents aromas of figs, dates, and tropical pineapple alongside candied citrus peel and orange. The palate delivers what the distillery describes as “dark, delicious and rich” flavors featuring caramel sweetness of dates and orange peel with tobacco undertones. The finish consists of dried fruits and warm spices.
The Lakes Distillery Ascent Joins Award-Winning Travel Retail Range
The release follows the distillery’s 2024 launch of The Lakes Boundless single malt whisky, which earned a Gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2025 and a Silver medal with 90 points at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2025. Boundless has secured distribution with travel retail operator Avolta.
