The Glenlivet has unveiled the second iteration of its Small Batch Collection, featuring three new limited edition single malts aged 17, 19 and 20 years. The Speyside distillery’s latest releases showcase distinct flavor profiles named Wildflower Honey, Indulgent Chocolate and Orchard Fruitiness respectively.
Each expression in the collection is bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered.
The range was created under the direction of The Glenlivet Cask Master Kevin Balmforth and his team.
The Glenlivet 17 Year Old Wildflower Honey is matured exclusively in first-fill American oak casks. Official tasting notes describe a nose of apple, boiled lime sweets, and honeysuckle followed by honeydew melon, lemon drizzle cake, toasted almonds, and ginger spice on the palate.
The 19 Year Old Indulgent Chocolate combines first-fill American oak, first-fill Sherry, and second-fill ex-Scotch barrels. Expect notes of sultanas, orange zest, chocolate hazelnut cream, and candied walnuts.
The 20 Year Old Orchard Fruitiness blends first-fill American oak, second-fill ex-Scotch, and second-fill American oak hogsheads. The oldest whisky in the collection brings notes of caramelised figs, ripe plums, toffee, cinnamon, and syrup.
“The Glenlivet Small Batch Collection is a celebration of discovery, inviting whisky appreciators and collectors to explore the extraordinary spectrum of flavours that can be achieved through the meticulous cask combination process,” said Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet Cask Master.
He described the official tasting notes from the brand: “The 17 Year Old opens with bright apple and citrus notes that develop into a sweet, floral complexity.”
“The 19 Year Old brings rich dark fruits and spices, culminating in a sweet, aromatic finish and finally, the 20 Year Old delivers luscious orchard fruits and warming spices, creating an incredibly syrupy and fruity experience.”
“Together, this collection offers a masterful progression of flavour, allowing specific notes to shine while retaining the inherent character of The Glenlivet,” Balmforth added.
The new Small Batch Collection is available globally at select retailers and The Home of The Glenlivet in Speyside.
As the whiskies are small batch, they are limited in number, with just 9,900 bottles of the 17 Year Old on offer. The 19 Year Old is limited to 3,936 bottles, and the 20 Year Old release consists of 2,736 bottles.
Pricing is set at €154 for the 17 Year Old, €220 for the 19 Year Old and €300 for the 20 Year Old.
This marks the second Small Batch Collection from The Glenlivet, following the inaugural series which also featured 17, 19 and 20 year old age statements but with different cask compositions and resulting flavor profiles.
