Using The Glenlivet’s iconic teal color seen on the brand’s packaging and the beautiful gold and amber hues in The Glenlivet’s single malt scotch, the brand has reimagined traditional Scottish tartan.
The Glenlivet Tartan
Tartan is a distinctive patterned fabric traditionally associated with Scottish culture, characterized by crisscrossing horizontal and vertical stripes in multiple colors. Each tartan design, or “sett,” is often linked to specific Scottish clans, families, or regions, serving as a powerful symbol of identity and heritage.
In this new collaboration, The Glenlivet has combined its signature packaging and whisky colors to create a bright and distinctive, yet culturally traditional, tartan.
Thomas Doherty, best known for starring in the Descendants franchise (2015-present) and The Invitation (2022), sports the tartan in a new campaign along with American trendsetters Beverly Nguyen, Maurice Kamara, Amrit Tietz, and Clym Evernden. Doherty, who was raised in Edinburgh, now lives in New York City, and embodies Scottish style and culture within an American context.
Speaking about The Glenlivet Tartan, Doherty said: “You’ll struggle to find a Scot who doesn’t feel more powerful in tartan. Just like single malt Scotch whisky, tartan is so ingrained in our culture; it’s a privilege to wear.”
The Glenlivet Tartan was crafted by Lochcarron of Scotland, one of the world’s leading Scottish tartan manufacturers.
