The Glenlivet 40 Year Old

Matured and refined for 40 years, the new single malt scotch whisky was finished in sherry casks from Jerez under the watchful eye of The Glenlivet Cask Master, Kevin Balmforth. The casks were seasoned with a bespoke blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherries.

The whisky was bottled at a cask strength of 46.9% ABV, with the harmonious finishing leading to notes of “poached plums and charred orange, dark cherries, warming spice and braised red apples.”

The Presentation

The Glenlivet 40 Year Old is presented in an elongated bottle which is inspired by the brand’s original glass silhouette. Presented in a copper-colored presentation case, the expression also pays tribute to The Glenlivet’s copper stills. Additionally, The Glenlivet’s signature teal encircles a small cameo of the distillery’s founder, George Smith.

‘Trailblazing Spirit’

“The Glenlivet 40 Year Old represents more than four decades of dedication and craftsmanship from our team,” Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet Cask Master, said. “It’s thanks to the efforts and foresight of my predecessors who laid down the foundation of this whisky 40 years ago that we’re able to showcase the trailblazing spirit of The Glenlivet with the introduction of such a special and highly aged permanent expression during such a monumental year.”

“The Glenlivet 40 Year Old is a welcome addition to our desirable portfolio of single malts, joining on the heels of the introduction of The Glenlivet 55 Year Old last fall, as whisky drinkers in the US continue to seek new offerings that shine a light on the quality and craft of single malt Scotch whisky,” Johan Radojewski, Vice President Marketing – Scotch & Irish Whisk(e)y, Pernod Ricard USA said. “As the #1 single malt Scotch whisky brand in the US1, The Glenlivet is committed to moving the category forward for years to come by continuing to elevate the exquisite taste experience that single malt delivers.”
