The Glenlivet & Laila Gohar Celebrate 200 Years With Whisky & A 200-Inch Cake

Continuing its bicentenary celebrations, Speyside distillery The Glenlivet recently hosted a “200th birthday party” in New York with the help of the celebrated artist, Laila Gohar.

Continuing its bicentenary celebrations, Speyside distillery The Glenlivet recently hosted a “200th birthday party” in New York with the help of the celebrated artist, Laila Gohar. Gohar, who uses food as her creative medium, crafted a 200-inch long birthday cake for the distillery, slices of which were served alongside The Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection. 
New Yorkers and fans of whisky and food alike joined Gohar and distillery representatives at the Elizabeth Street Garden in Nolita for a night of celebration. The cake, which was the centerpiece of the event, was a vanilla sponge filled with scotch-infused apricot and peach jam. The sweet and fruity flavors emulated those that can be found in The Glenlivet single malt scotch whisky. Drams of The Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection made for the perfect pairing.

The Glenlivet has exuded a passion for innovation since its founding in 1824. As one of the first legal distilleries to be founded following the 1823 Excise Act, The Glenlivet was a spearhead for growth in the scotch whisky category, thanks to its founder, George Smith. 

200 years later, The Glenlivet is continuing this spirit of innovation with the Fusion Cask Series. The latest installment, the Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask contains scotch whisky that was finished in bespoke casks coopered from specially selected staves from first-fill rum and ex-bourbon barrels. The result is “a harmonious fusion of luscious fruit and caramel-toffee notes.”

The Glenlivet x Gohar World 

The Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask

Furthering their collaboration, the distillery and Laila Gohar have teamed up to create original candles for Laila’s brand Gohar World. Also available will be a 200th Anniversary Celebration Set called The Glenlivet x Gohar World: Mark the Moment. The set will comprise a bottle of the Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask and scotch glassware from Gohar World, and will be sold exclusively via ReserveBar.com.
