Tamdhu Distillery has launched its most exclusive offering to date with the unveiling of The Dedication Collection in the U.S. This new series showcases the distillery’s oldest and most limited expressions, all matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks. The news follows the launch of the Dedication Collection in the UK in September 2024.
The inaugural release is a remarkable 43 Year Old single malt with an SRP of $15,999. Only 100 bottles are available globally, making this one of the most limited Tamdhu releases ever.
Distillery Manager Sandy McIntyre called the release “a landmark moment” for Tamdhu. “To have a whisky this age, matured exclusively in three exceptional sherry oak casks, is a true gem that exemplifies the amazing depth and complexity that only time can create,” he said.
Tamdhu 43 Year Old Dedication Collection
The Tamdhu 43 Year Old Dedication Collection represents the distillery’s commitment to sherry cask maturation. The whisky spent its entire four-decade journey in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks, developing an intensified character and distinctive dark amber color.
Made with water from Tamdhu’s own natural spring and matured on Speyside, the whisky is bottled at 50.8% ABV and is non-chill filtered to preserve its rich, natural qualities.
Tasting notes describe a nose of rich sherry, treacle toffee, dried coriander, berries, citrus, and dried spice. The palate delivers deep sherry, orange, blackcurrant, molasses, chocolate coconut, and hints of coffee, leading to a long sherry oak finish with hints of lemon and dried berries.
Artistic Presentation and Exclusive Experience
Each bottle of the 43 Year Old comes in a hand-blown crystal Victorian-style decanter housed in a hand-crafted octagonal wooden and brushed silver metal box. Every decanter is individually numbered, highlighting the exclusivity of the release.
To celebrate the launch, Tamdhu collaborated with photomicrographer Peter Woitschikowski to create striking close-up images of the whisky. Woitschikowski crystallized the whisky with natural extracts inspired by the tasting notes and photographed it at 43 times magnification – representing each year of maturation. The discipline is known as photomicrography.
Purchasers of the 43 Year Old will receive a personal invitation from Sandy McIntyre for an exclusive stay at the Tamdhu Distillery, which is normally closed to the public. During the visit, owners can sample rare whiskies and explore the traditional dunnage warehouses where future additions to the Dedication Collection may currently be maturing.
The Tamdhu 43 Year Old is available through specialist retailers in the United States, with extremely limited allocation.
