Colorado’s leading American single malt whiskey distillery celebrates its brewing heritage with a limited-edition release that showcases the state’s craft beer culture in every drop.

Stranahan’s Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask Debuts This Fall

The fourth installment in the annual Diamond Peak series arrives as Stranahan’s prepares to make history at the Great American Beer Festival. The Denver-based distillery will be the event’s first-ever Featured Distillery, marking the festival’s inaugural inclusion of spirits brands.

The new release draws on Stranahan’s founding connection to Colorado’s brewing industry. When Jess Graber created the first batch of Stranahan’s, he used beer mash from George Stranahan’s Flying Dog Brewery. This relationship between beer and whiskey continues with Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask, which features barrels that traveled between Stranahan’s and four local breweries.

The process began with ex-Stranahan’s casks being filled with craft beer at partner breweries. These “boomeranged” barrels then returned to the distillery, where they were filled with a blend of 4 to 6-year-old American single malt and aged for an additional 18 months. Official tasting notes describe the resulting whiskey as having “bold notes of ripe fruit and velvety chocolate malt.”

Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask Release Details

“Diamond Peak has always been about taking our one award-winning recipe and showing just how much depth it holds through finishing,” said Justin Aden, Head Blender at Stranahan’s. “Batch number four is more than a whiskey. It’s a reflection of where Stranahan’s started and how far we’ve come. From a beer mash that sparked the idea for Jess’s original recipe to this year’s release, Diamond Peak honors the brewing heritage at the heart of Stranahan’s.”

The whiskey will retail for $79.99 per 750ml bottle when it launches this fall.

Distribution will include Stranahan’s Distillery in Denver, the Stranahan’s Whiskey Lodge in Aspen, online sales, and retailers nationwide. The Great American Beer Festival will offer the first public tastings of the new release, highlighting the ongoing relationship between Colorado’s brewing and distilling communities. Stranahan’s ranks as the nation’s top-selling American single malt whiskey and has earned recognition as the most awarded in its category. The Diamond Peak series represents the distillery’s annual exploration of finishing techniques, with each batch offering a different interpretation of the core whiskey recipe.
