Sotheby’s & Chivas Brothers Partner To Auction Rare & One-Of-A-Kind Whiskies

Leading global auction house, Sotheby’s, has announced a long-term partnership with Pernod Ricard’s scotch whisky business, Chivas Brothers, which owns The Glenlivet and Aberlour

The partnership will see high-aged and one-of-a-kind whiskies come to auction at Sotheby’s. According to a press release from Sotheby’s, “Each individual lot will feature a never-before-released Scotch whisky from the Chivas Brothers portfolio.”

The Glenlivet 55 Year Old, 200th Anniversary Edition, 1 of 1 

The inaugural lot in this exciting new venture will the a very special edition of the recently unveiled Glenlivet 55 Year Old. The oldest whisky ever to be produced by The Glenlivet Distillery is housed in a custom spherical decanter that has been beautifully set with peridot gemstones. 

In addition, the decanter is housed in a one-of-a-kind sculpture by computational artist, Michael Hansmeyer. Hansmeyer is a pioneering force in using computer algorithms to create physical architectural forms. The beautiful sculpture is crafted from emerald quartzite and 24-carat gold. 

The lot carries an estimate of £35,000-£70,000. 

The Auction At Sotheby’s London 

This special lot will go to auction on 22nd October 2024 at Sotheby’s Finest and Rarest Whisky sale. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the National Trust For Scotland, a long-time partner and beneficiary of The Glenlivet. National Trust For Scotland works to preserve Scotland’s natural habitats and cultural heritage.
