The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) will host a Burns Night event at St Etheldreda’s medieval crypt in Farringdon, London on 23 January. The evening follows last year’s sold-out celebration and marks a rare opportunity for non-members to experience the Society’s signature whisky events.
The festivities begin at 7pm with traditional bagpipe performances.
Guests will enjoy a three-course meal paired with six specially selected Society whiskies.

Musicians Tim Hain and Alan Glenive will perform blues-inspired whisky songs throughout the evening.
“This year we are celebrating Rabbie Burns and his works in style, with a night of bagpipes, traditional Scottish traditions and indulgent meals, all accompanied by six of our exceptional Society whiskies,” said Simone Malavolta, Manager of the Society’s London venue, 19 Greville Street.
The historic crypt venue is located a five-minute walk from the SMWS’s Greville Street location.

“Last year we held our Burns Night at Greville Street and sold out almost instantly, so this year we needed a bit more space!” Malavolta added.
She noted that the crypt’s dramatic stone arches and atmospheric lighting will transport guests to another era.
The Society has released a special edition bottling to commemorate Burns Night: Cask 39.318, titled “Sing Thy Name!”
This 13-year-old first fill bourbon barrel expression is part of the Winter Series.
Official tasting notes from the brand describe a fresh nose of cut grass and vanilla custard, with flavors of lemon curd, cardamom and sweet nutmeg on the palate.
Founded in Edinburgh in 1983, SMWS operates venues in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London.
The Society is known for its unconventional approach to single cask whisky, using descriptive names rather than revealing distillery identities.
Examples include “Red wine and brine in the old coal mine” and “Lavender honey and chimney lobsters.”
Tickets are priced at £125 for members and £135 for non-members and can be purchased here.
