Skerryvore x Ardnahoe Releases Limited Edition Anniversary Whisky

Celtic rock band Skerryvore has partnered with Islay’s Ardnahoe Distillery to create a special single malt whisky marking their 20th anniversary, with only 2,000 bottles available worldwide.

Band Members Select Casks for Anniversary Whisky

The collaboration between Skerryvore and Ardnahoe Distillery represents a unique approach to commemorative bottlings. Each of the eight band members personally selected a cask after tasting over 30 different options, creating a vatted whisky that reflects their individual preferences. The resulting Skerryvore XX is a 5-year-old single malt that will launch on October 9 at 10am, priced at $88 (£65).

According to the official tasting notes, the whisky presents golden colors with aromas of candied almonds and salted caramel. The palate delivers tropical fruit flavors alongside savory coastal notes, finishing with gentle spice. The maturation process utilized both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

“The whisky style ranges from more robust, powerful flavours, to sweeter, melodic smoothness. Our music has developed over the years to encapsulate so many styles, yet sound uniquely like Skerryvore, this whisky does the same and is a great representation of the band,” said drummer Fraser West.

Ardnahoe Distillery Continues Innovation

Ardnahoe Distillery opened in 2019 as Islay’s ninth distillery and has quickly established itself in Scotland’s competitive whisky market. Owned by the Glasgow-based Laing family, who have been in the Scotch whisky business for more than three generations, the distillery released its first whisky, the Inaugural Release, in May 2024.

The partnership with Skerryvore extends beyond bottle creation. The band became Ardnahoe’s global ambassadors last year and has been hosting Whisky Sessions events during their US tour, combining musical performances with whisky tastings. These intimate events offer fans a unique experience that blends Scottish culture, music, and spirits.

Skerryvore formed in 2005 on the Isle of Tiree and has built an international following with their blend of folk, traditional, rock, and pop music. Their 20th anniversary celebrations began with a performance before 7,000 fans at Floors Castle, followed by tours across the UK, EU, and USA.

The limited release will be sold exclusively through Ardnahoe’s online shop and at the distillery itself. With production capped at 2,000 bottles, the Skerryvore XX represents a rare opportunity for both whisky collectors and music fans to own a piece of Scottish cultural history.

The band’s anniversary tour continues through November and December with dates across the UK and Europe. Since its opening, Ardnahoe has released five bottlings total, including Bholsa, Infinite Loch, and the Manager’s Selection, establishing its reputation for quality single malts from Scotland’s famous whisky island.
