Sipsmith Gin Launches Grass-Infused Wimbledon Spirit

With tennis season upon us, Sipsmith has created an unusual gin featuring actual Centre Court grass seeds, marking five years as Wimbledon’s Official Gin Partner.

Sipsmith Gin Creates First-of-Its-Kind Tennis-Inspired Spirit

The London distillery unveiled Top Seed Gin this week, incorporating real grass seeds from Wimbledon’s famous Centre Court into its botanical blend. The limited-edition spirit has been distilled to precisely 41.03% ABV, commemorating 103 years since Centre Court opened in 1921.

“Top Seed Gin perfectly captures the essence of Wimbledon: a celebration of tradition, excellence, and innovation,” said Sue Barker CBE, who launched the product at an exclusive event. The former British number one and long-time BBC presenter added predictions for this year’s tournament, backing Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz as potential champions.

The gin features official tasting notes describing fresh and distinctive characteristics. Sipsmith recommends serving it with cloudy apple juice, elderflower cordial, lime juice and soda water.

Where to Find Sipsmith Gin’s Wimbledon Creation

The exclusive spirit will be available as a secret off-menu cocktail at Wimbledon’s Pergola Bar during The Championships, which run from July 1-14. Customers ordering “The Top Seed” will receive their drink along with a bag of Wimbledon grass seeds to grow at home.

For those not attending the tournament, the gin is only available through Sipsmith’s Sipping Society membership program, priced at $108 (£85) annually. Members can access the limited release through the company’s website or by visiting their Chiswick distillery.

The partnership between Sipsmith and Wimbledon began in 2019, with the distillery serving as the tournament’s first official gin partner. This latest creation represents their most ambitious collaboration to date, literally bottling the essence of tennis’s most prestigious grass court tournament.
