Moët Hennessy has unveiled MH Whisky School, a new online learning platform offering free scotch whisky certification to U.S. bartenders through a partnership with the Edinburgh Whisky Academy (EWA).
The initiative combines the EWA’s Level 1 Certificate in scotch whisky with brand-specific training from Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, creating a comprehensive educational program approved by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). The platform aims to enhance professional knowledge and expertise within the American bartending community.
The Scotch Whisky Education Event
The program kicked off with a live-streamed education session on December 2 featuring Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling & Whisky Creation at The Glenmorangie Company, alongside Global Brand Ambassador David Blackmore and U.S. Glenmorangie Ambassador Dan Crowell. The session provided an in-depth exploration of scotch whisky history, regional characteristics, production methods, and the intricate art of blending.
“Working with EWA to create the MH Whisky School has been seamless,” said David Blackmore, Global Brand Ambassador for Ardbeg & Glenmorangie. “Their expertise ensured the bespoke Certificate in Scotch Whisky course was tailored to our needs, making the process straightforward and enjoyable. This program beautifully combines brand storytelling with recognised whisky certification, and we’re thrilled to see it launch.”
Building on Previous Success
The initiative expands upon successful previous collaborations between EWA, Moët Hennessy, PDXCW, and Lush Life Productions. In 2021 and 2022, these partnerships helped 157 bartenders earn EWA’s Level 2 Diploma in Single Malt Whisky through an innovative five-week program that combined EWA Lecturer Vic Cameron’s expertise with interactive experiences from the Ardbeg team.
Educational Innovation Meets Industry Expertise
The MH Whisky School represents a significant step forward in making professional whisky education more accessible to the U.S. market. The program’s curriculum combines academic rigor with practical industry knowledge, ensuring participants receive a well-rounded education in scotch whisky.
Kirsty McKerrow, EWA Founder and Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We’re thrilled to partner with industry leaders Glenmorangie and Ardbeg on this groundbreaking project. A special thanks to David Blackmore for recognising the value of our courses and choosing EWA as the ideal collaborator. This partnership perfectly aligns with our mission to make high-quality Scotch whisky education accessible to all, with flexible materials that integrate seamlessly into broader brand training for maximum impact.”

The EWA & Educational Excellence
An initial group of 500 Moët Hennessy contacts has already begun the program, marking a strong start for the initiative. The expansion to offer free certification to U.S. bartenders represents a significant investment in the American spirits industry’s professional development and demonstrates Moët Hennessy’s commitment to advancing scotch whisky education in the United States.
