The London Distillery Company debuts The Golden Union series just weeks after its previous release sold out in under 24 hours, signaling strong demand for English whisky.

New English Whisky Blend Combines London and Adnams Malts

The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has unveiled “The Golden Union: Release No.1 – A Field in England,” a new blended malt that combines whiskies from both TLDC and Adnams Distillery. The expression launches Monday, June 30, priced at $49.95 (£49.95).

This marks TLDC’s second release since its revival earlier this year. The distillery’s previous offering, Renascence: The Revival Release, sold out in less than 24 hours, demonstrating growing interest in English whisky.

The new blend features malt whiskies matured in both hogsheads and barrels from multiple vintages. Bottled at 50% ABV, it showcases a tripartite label design inspired by TLDC’s logo depicting a drop falling into the Thames Basin.

English Whisky Industry Grows with Over 50 Licensed Distilleries

The Golden Union series arrives as England’s whisky industry experiences significant expansion. More than 50 licensed distilleries now produce whisky across the country, marking a dramatic increase from just a decade ago.

“At The London Distillery Company, we’ve long believed in the potential of English whisky. And with The Golden Union, we’re proud to celebrate that belief by launching an ongoing series that puts English malt whisky – in all its diversity – centre stage,” said TLDC Managing Director and Whisky Maker Matt McKay.

England’s whisky scene differs from traditional whisky regions like Scotland, Ireland, and Japan. English producers operate without rigid regulations, allowing greater experimentation with production methods and cask types.

London Distillery Company

The London Distillery Company established itself in 2011 as London’s first new whisky distillery since Lea Valley Distillery closed in 1903. After acquisition by Gleann Mòr Spirits in 2023, Matt McKay joined as Managing Director in January 2025 to lead its revitalization.

The Golden Union series will continue with future releases featuring different English distilleries. Each edition aims to showcase the craftsmanship emerging from England’s whisky producers.

Official tasting notes describe the whisky’s nose as featuring creamy toffee and waxed lemons, while the palate offers vibrant citrus and tropical fruits with white pepper spicing. The finish delivers prolonged zesty lemons and cask char.
