The limited-edition Jim Beam Pin Bottle recreates a classic decanter design from the brand’s collectible series

Jim Beam is marking 230 years of whiskey-making with a special release that recalls the distillery’s golden age of collectible decanters. The limited-edition Beam Pin Bottle will be available exclusively at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, starting August 23rd.

Historic Whiskey Design Returns to Jim Beam

The new release recreates one of the most sought-after designs from Jim Beam’s extensive decanter collection. Between the 1940s and 1990s, the distillery produced more than 3,000 unique decorative bottles that became popular with collectors worldwide. The bowling pin-shaped decanter held special significance for Jim Beam himself, who “would gift bottles to friends, family, and business associates for special occasions,” according to the company.

The 8-year-old bourbon is bottled at 86.8 proof (43.4% ABV), matching the specifications of the original Pin Bottle release. The whiskey comes from the same 9-story warehouses used for the historic bottling, maintaining continuity with the original product.

Premium Whiskey Offering for Collectors

The limited-edition bottle carries a suggested retail price of $99.99 (£79.99) for a 750ml bottle. Official tasting notes describe the bourbon as having a “deep golden amber” color with “crisp oak with notes of baked bread and toffee” on the nose. The palate offers “subtle sweetness upfront complexed with rich toasted oak and light char,” finishing with “a warm clean finish with a hint of sweetness.”

The release date of August 23rd coincides with Jim Beam Day, an annual celebration of the brand’s heritage. Jim Beam, founded in 1795, remains one of the world’s best-selling bourbon brands and is currently owned by Suntory Global Spirits.

The Pin Bottle joins other recent limited releases from major bourbon producers as the American whiskey category continues to experience strong growth. Collectors and enthusiasts interested in purchasing the bottle will need to visit the Clermont distillery in person, as no wider distribution is planned.
