Jack Daniel’s Distillery, Lynchburg, has unveiled the Jack Daniel’s Heroes Selection Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Rye Whiskey. The limited edition whiskey is the latest in an annual release from the distillery that honors US veterans.
Each year, a veteran chooses the whiskey that will be bottled. This year’s offering was chosen by US Navy Veteran and Jack Daniel’s SVP General Manager, Melvin Keebler. It was, as is said in a brand press release, “chosen by heroes, for heroes.”
Jack Daniel’s Heroes Selection Single Barrel, Barrel Proof Tennessee Rye Whiskey
The Jack Daniel’s Heroes Selection will be available to purchase exclusively via military duty-free stores. The bottle comes complete with a gift box and collectible medallions. It will retail for $69.99.
The whiskey inside the Heroes Selection was distilled from a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. In keeping with JD tradition, the rye whiskey was then charcoal filtered before matured in virgin American white oak barrels. Bottled from a small batch of barrels, the proof of the Heroes Selection varies from 125 and 140. However, the same distinct notes of caramel, toasted fruit, and barrel spice can be found in each bottle.
Speaking about this year’s selection, Melvin Keebler said: “Community, camaraderie and the importance of mission are the core principles that I feel my military service shares with my work today at the Jack Daniel Distillery. It is my privilege to select this whiskey in honor of the men and women who continue to serve and protect our freedom.”
Support For Veterans & Current Service Members
Jack Daniel’s is proud to support the Operating Ride Home Campaign in partnership with the Armed Services YMCA. This project raises funds to cover the travel costs of junior service members so that they can spend holidays with their families.
