Scotland’s remote Isle of Harris Distillery has announced its first gin evolution in nearly a decade, alongside a new cask-strength whisky expression, both launching exclusively in UK airports this summer.

Isle of Harris Gin Gets First Makeover Since 2015 Launch
The Tidal Strength Gin marks a significant milestone as the first variation of the distillery’s flagship gin since its creation in 2015. The higher alcohol content amplifies the botanical complexity and maritime character that defines the original spirit.

According to official tasting notes, the gin delivers “extra dryness from the juniper, stronger fruit and floral notes, and a lasting citrus, slightly spicy, finish with invigorating maritime intensity.” The spirit continues to feature hand-harvested sugar kelp from local sea lochs, maintaining its connection to the island’s coastal environment.
The distillery designed this expression specifically for classic cocktails where gin takes center stage, particularly martinis and negronis. The increased strength allows the botanicals to shine through even when mixed with other strong flavors.
New Isle of Harris Whisky Expression Honors Island Heritage
Official tasting notes describe “a layered nose of soft smoke, caramel, poached fruits, and warming spices” with a palate that is “characterful yet smooth, with a rich interplay of spice, wood, and fruit, finishing with a mellow sweetness that endures.” The whisky is non-chill filtered and contains no artificial coloring.

The launch follows an agreement with SipWell Brands as the distillery’s exclusive global travel retail distribution partner. Both expressions will expand to additional UK airports later this year.
