Gleann Mòr Spirits has completed the full acquisition of Lowland Bond, Fife’s premier excise warehouse, from the Edinburgh Whisky Company. The Edinburgh-based spirits producer and bottler of Rare Find was previously a shareholder in the facility before acquiring full ownership.
The acquisition strengthens Gleann Mòr Spirits’ capacity to meet global demand for whisky maturation, storage, and distribution services.

Lowland Bond opened in April 2023 and is recognized as the tallest racked whisky warehouse in the UK and Europe.
The facility offers 30,000 square feet of secure storage with capacity to house more than 20,000 casks. Located in Glenrothes, Fife, the warehouse benefits from Scotland’s whisky heritage and established logistics networks.
“The acquisition of Lowland Bond is a transformational step for our business,” said a spokesperson from Gleann Mòr Spirits.
“It provides us with the scale, capability, and flexibility to support our partners around the world. This acquisition, alongside our continued investment, ensures Gleann Mòr Spirits is ready to scale sustainably and seize the opportunities ahead.”
The Scottish whisky industry has seen significant investment in warehousing infrastructure in recent years. Rising global demand for Scotch whisky has driven producers and independent bottlers to expand their maturation and storage capabilities.
Fife has emerged as a strategic location for whisky warehousing due to its proximity to major Lowland distilleries and transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The region hosts several major bonded warehouses serving both large producers and independent companies.
Independent bottlers like Gleann Mòr Spirits play a crucial role in the Scotch whisky ecosystem. They source casks from distilleries, mature the spirit, and release limited edition bottlings under their own labels.
The acquisition positions Gleann Mòr Spirits to expand its services to third-party cask owners and international importers seeking secure storage in Scotland.
