Scottish independent bottler Duncan Taylor has marked the royal couple’s china wedding anniversary with an exclusive pairing of Laphroaig whiskey and gin finished in the same cask, becoming one of only 205 sets available worldwide.
Royal Anniversary Edition
The Aberdeenshire-based company presented the Royal Anniversary Edition to Their Majesties at Buckingham Palace, continuing a tradition that began with the 2023 Coronation. The gift combines a 19-year-old Laphroaig single malt distilled in 2005—the year of the royal wedding—with a gin aged for seven months in the same cask and bottled on April 9, 2025, their exact anniversary date.
“Pairing a Laphroaig whisky from their nuptial year with a gin finished from the same cask, and bottled on their 20th anniversary, was a truly unique opportunity to celebrate their union,” said Evan Robertson, Director of Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky.
The presentation set includes both bottles in an elegant case with a display plinth and certificate of authenticity. In keeping with King Charles’s environmental advocacy, all packaging materials are eco-friendly. The limited edition is priced at $900 (£690) and available through The Spirits Embassy.
Classic Islay Whisky Profile
According to the official tasting notes, the 19-year-old Laphroaig exhibits a golden barley color with salt-encrusted seaweed, minty notes, and smoky embers on the nose. The palate delivers classic Laphroaig character with ashes, tropical fruits, and lingering sweetness. At 56.4% ABV, it offers a long, balanced finish with multiple layers of complexity.
The accompanying gin displays a pale straw color at 50% ABV. Official notes describe fragrant roses, kiwi fruit, and tangerine on the nose, while the palate reveals sweet peat with tangy notes and wooden embers.
Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, established in 1938, has previously gifted the royals for the 2023 Coronation and Edinburgh’s 900th anniversary as a royal burgh in 2024. The company maintains one of the world’s largest privately held collections of rare whiskies from its Huntly headquarters in Speyside.
