Lofted Spirits has promoted Dan Callaway to Master Blender, recognizing his innovative contributions to the company’s whiskey program. The appointment expands his responsibilities beyond his previous role as Vice President of Product Development at Bardstown Bourbon Company.
In his new position, Callaway will maintain oversight of Bardstown Bourbon‘s Kentucky Straight Whiskey line while extending his influence across Lofted Spirits’ portfolio. This includes the fast-growing Green River Whiskey brand and the company’s Lofted Custom Spirits clients.
“Dan approaches whiskey with a rare blend of creativity and precision – he’s a true visionary and one of the most forward-thinking blenders in American whiskey today,” said Mark Erwin, CEO of Lofted Spirits.

Dan Callaway’s Blending Philosophy 

Callaway brings an unconventional background to whiskey blending. His experience as a musician and certified sommelier has shaped what colleagues describe as a “mad scientist” approach to his craft.

This distinctive methodology has helped Bardstown Bourbon establish itself as an innovator in modern American whiskey. The brand’s collaborative finishes and experimental blends have earned significant industry recognition and attracted both experienced whiskey enthusiasts and newcomers to the category.
Under Callaway’s leadership, Bardstown Bourbon has received numerous top industry awards while building a reputation for pushing creative boundaries.

Strategic Portfolio Expansion

The promotion represents a strategic move for Lofted Spirits as it positions itself for growth across multiple whiskey brands. Callaway’s expanded role includes oversight of Green River, which has experienced rapid market expansion in recent years.
