Cedar Ridge Anniversary Edition Bourbon Marks 20 Years

Cedar Ridge Distillery has launched its first Anniversary Edition Bourbon, commemorating two decades of whiskey production at the Iowa facility.

The limited release features the distillery’s signature bourbon finished in four different cask types, creating what Master Distiller Murphy Quint describes as a tribute to the brand’s wine country origins and evolution.

Cedar Ridge Anniversary Edition Bourbon Blends Wine and Whiskey Heritage

The new expression combines Cedar Ridge’s award-winning Iowa Bourbon with finishing techniques developed over 20 years of production. Master Distiller Murphy Quint selected Tokaji, Ruby Port, Amontillado Sherry casks, and second-use New American Oak barrels for the finishing process.

“To mark our 20th anniversary, I wanted to create a whiskey that honors our beginnings while also representing what we’ve evolved into. This release unites two cornerstones of our history—Iowa bourbon and wine—with the craft we’ve mastered in recent years: blending cask-finished whiskeys. The result is a wine-cask finished bourbon, a truly special release that brings our journey full circle,” says Quint.

The bourbon maintains Cedar Ridge’s standard mashbill of 74% Iowa corn, 14% rye, and 12% malted barley. The distillery, which began as a vineyard in 2003 before adding spirits production in 2005, has built its reputation on wine-barrel finishing techniques.

Cedar Ridge Anniversary Edition Bourbon Arrives as Distillery Dominates Iowa Market

The Anniversary Edition Bourbon is bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV) and retails for $59.99. Distribution is limited to Iowa and online sales through the distillery’s website.

Cedar Ridge has maintained its position as the best-selling bourbon in Iowa since 2020, outperforming national brands Maker’s Mark and Jim Beam. Iowa remains the only state where a Kentucky-based distillery does not hold the top sales position for bourbon.

The distillery’s success extends beyond local markets. In 2024, Cedar Ridge received the World Whiskey Awards’ Best American Single Malt distinction. The facility currently houses over 200 finishing casks, reflecting the expansion overseen by Murphy Quint since his return to the family business in 2014.

Jeff and Laurie Quint established Cedar Ridge Distillery on property between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Their son Murphy now serves as both Master Distiller and Master Blender, leading the production team that has earned numerous industry awards.

The Anniversary Edition Bourbon represents Cedar Ridge’s continued focus on cask-finished expressions. While official tasting notes were not provided for this release, the combination of wine cask finishes suggests complexity beyond the distillery’s standard bourbon profile.

Cedar Ridge Anniversary Edition Bourbon is available now.
