Bowmore, Islay’s oldest licensed distillery, has launched its new Sherry Oak Cask Collection in the US, featuring 12, 15, 18, and 21-year-old single malt Scotch whiskies. The permanent range showcases European oak sherry cask maturation and will complement the distillery’s existing core collection of 12, 15, 18, and 25-year-old expressions.
The 12 and 15-year-old variants are available now in the US market. The 18 and 21-year-old expressions will follow in time for Valentine’s Day 2026.

“We’re excited to share this new collection with our fans in the US, where appreciation for barrel aging, and the whisky finesse they’ve come to expect, is at an all-time high,” said Simon Brooking, national ambassador of Scotch at Suntory Global Spirits.
He added: “The expressions brilliantly showcase the exceptional craft of Bowmore, under the leadership of Master Blender Dr. Calum Fraser, with four age statements that provide a master class in the use of sherry finishing in whisky production.”
Each expression undergoes finishing in Oloroso seasoned casks. The 18 and 21-year-old variants receive additional finishing in Pedro Ximenez casks.
The whiskies mature in Bowmore’s No.1 Vaults, one of the world’s oldest maturation warehouses. This location on Islay’s coastline exposes the aging spirit to maritime conditions that influence the final flavor profile.
Bowmore 12-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask ($90 USD, 40% ABV) combines American oak ex-bourbon barrels with European oak Oloroso sherry cask maturation. The official tasting notes from the brand describe sweet spice, nuttiness and smoldering smokiness.
The 15-Year-Old expression ($160 USD, 43% ABV) features first-fill Oloroso cask maturation. Bowmore describes natural smoke and minerality alongside sweeter, fruitier notes.
Bowmore 18-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask ($325 USD, 43% ABV) adds Pedro Ximenez cask finishing after Oloroso maturation. The 21-Year-Old variant ($450 USD, 47% ABV) increases strength to 47% ABV and uses first-fill Pedro Ximenez casks for finishing.
The new collection features packaging with Bowmore’s signature black coloring and burgundy accents to represent the sherry wine cask influence.
