The Bowmore 1966 Samaroli Bouquet
The Bowmore 1966 Samaroli Bouquet was bottled by R.W. Duthie & Co. for export to the Italian market for Samaroli in 1984. Just 720 of them were produced, making the bottles extremely rare. According to my research, only 18 have appeared at online auctions in the UK and Europe since its first appearance in 2014.
Considered the world’s best Bowmore scotch whisky, the 1966 Samaroli Bouquet has prompted high praise from prominent whisky reviewers such as Angus MacRaild of WhiskyFun. You can read Angus’ tasting notes here.
Its legendary status does not just stem from the quality of the whisky, but also from the standing of Silvano Samaroli in the whisky industry. Having established Samaroli in 1968, Silvano was instrumental in the early rise of the single malt, preferring to bottle scotch from a single cask at a time when blends ruled the market. As a result of his incredible foresight, historic Samaroli bottles are highly prized by whisky fans, historians, and collectors.
The label for the Bowmore 1966 Samaroli Bouquet, which is part of the Samaroli Flowers series, was designed by Silvano himself. A revered and respected figure in the industry, Silvano Samaroli passed away in 2017, aged 77.
