Boann Distillery Distinctive Cask Finishes

The new lineup features three distinct expressions, each beginning with Boann’s award-winning Single Pot Still spirit. The Marsala Cask Finish undergoes initial maturation in charred ex-bourbon barrels from Brown-Forman distillery for three years, followed by finishing in French oak Superiore and Fine Marsala casks from Sicily’s Cantine de Vinci.

The Madeira expression sees its final maturation in vintage casks sourced from renowned Madeira house Justino’s, following its bourbon barrel aging. Meanwhile, the Pedro Ximénez variant matures for three and a half years in Oloroso Sherry hogsheads from Spain’s Bodegas Garvey before finishing in Pedro Ximénez Solera Chestnut and oak barrels from Malaga.

Heritage and Innovation

“This is the beginning of a journey to bring Irish whiskey back to its rightful place as a global leader,” says Pat Cooney, Boann’s Managing Director and Founder. “Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is uniquely Irish, and we’re reviving the heritage of Ireland’s lost distilleries while uniting traditional methods with modern innovation.”

The distillery’s commitment to quality is evident in its sourcing of premium finishing casks from renowned European wine producers. Each expression aims to deliver a distinct flavor profile, from the Marsala’s sweet marmalade and peppermint notes to the Madeira’s peaches and cream character, and the Pedro Ximénez’s complex blend of honey and dark chocolate.

“This has always been our dream—to distill our own Irish whiskey in the heart of the Boyne Valley,” Cooney added. “These whiskeys carry the character and provenance of the land, writing a new chapter in the story of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.”

Market Availability and Pricing

The collection is launching with limited distribution across nine states: California, Florida, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin. Each expression carries a suggested retail price of $69 for a 700ml bottle.

All three whiskeys are also available through Boann Distillery’s online store, offering wider accessibility to US consumers.
