Beyoncé fans have continually got their fingers on the pulse. So, when fans on X (formerly Twitter) began noticing this mysterious, locked folder on Beyoncé’s media site with a cover image featuring a bottle of mahogany-colored liquid in a glass case, it fuelled speculation that the singer might be gearing up to launch her own whiskey brand. Well, according to information publicly accessed via the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau’s COLA Registry, the label for SIRDAVIS Rye Whiskey was approved on 30th January 2024.
Where Will SIRDAVIS Whiskey Be Produced?
According to the same filing, the plant that will produce the whiskey is Gulf Coast Distillers located in Houston, Texas. Interestingly, an older filing lists Still Austin Distillery as the producing plant, meaning that the singer may have chosen to move production. Beyoncé herself is from Houston, Texas, so the shifting of production to her home city makes sense from a personal perspective.

The TTB filing also confirms that the whiskey will be rye, meaning that it is distilled from at least 51% rye grain.
In addition to the TTB filings, which are publicly available, Beyoncé fan account @B7Album on X posted a photo of the SIRDAVIS bottle at what looks to be a whiskey tasting. A fact sheet is visible in the bottom left-hand corner. This sheet states that the whiskey is “finished, blended, and bottled in Texas.”
Interestingly, there is no mention of where the whiskey was distilled. This suggests that the rye whiskey may be sourced from multiple distilleries across the US before being finished, blended, and bottled as SIRDAVIS.
What Will Beyoncé’s SIRDAVIS Whiskey Taste Like?
Visible on the same fact sheet posted by @B7Album on X are tasting notes for Beyoncé’s rye whiskey:
“Tangy Seville oranges mingle with [illegible] sun-kissed raisins, while the sizzling spices of clove, cinnamon, and ginger play with [illegible] notes of Demerara sugar and toffee.”
However, the heading of this paragraph seems to say ‘AROMA’. So, the tasting notes above may not include what drinkers can expect on the palate or finish.
Interestingly, there also seem to be at least two lines of information on the fact sheet about maturation, suggesting that the rye whiskey might be cask-finished. This, though, has not been confirmed.
When Will The Release Be Announced?
There is no word yet as to when we can expect more news about Beyoncé’s SIRDAVIS Rye Whiskey. Typically, I should be able to access the labels via the TTB by now. However, an error is currently preventing me from doing so.
With that being said, the fact that the mysterious photograph has appeared on Beyoncé’s media site may show that she is gearing up to announce her new spirit endeavor.
Perhaps we can also expect some more context surrounding the name of the brand. ‘Sir’ is the name of one of Beyoncé’s twins (the other being Rumi, born in 2017). As for ‘Davis’, members of the Beyhive have speculated that this may refer to a lyric in the song ‘BODYGUARD’ from her most recent album, Cowboy Carter.
Who Owns The Trademark?
The SIRDAVIS trademark is owned by Moët Hennessy SAS. This, in itself, is an exciting piece of news. LMVH is one of the foremost luxury goods companies in the world, with spirit and alcohol brands such as Hennessy, Moët & Chandon, and Ardbeg under its portfolio.
This is also not the first time that a member of Beyoncé’s family has had business dealings with LMVH. In 2021, the conglomerate purchased a 50% stake in Armand de Brignac, the champagne brand owned by Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z.
What Else Do We Know About Beyoncé’s SIRDAVIS Rye Whiskey?
We also have some speculative information on what the taglines for this whiskey may be. In May 2023, SirDavis LLC filed a trademark application for illustrations of the phrases “THE FUTURE OF WHISKY IS HERE” and “CALL ME SIR”.
It is worth noting that the phrase uses the ‘Scottish’ spelling of ‘whisky’, and not the Americanized spelling. Could this be deliberate? A way of making SIRDAVIS stand out? It certainly seems to have worked for Maker’s Mark, which notably omits the ‘e’ from its spelling of ‘whisky’.
The 32-time Grammy winner apparently encouraged her friend Megan Thee Stallion to start her own alcohol brand. Megan revealed this on an episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast, hosted by NFL legend, Shannon Sharpe.
“Beyoncé is the person who actually inspired me to get my own tequila. I used to be the cognac queen. I’m still the cognac queen! But as much as I used to enjoy cognac and promoted a lot of people’s liquor brands, she was like, ‘The next time I see you, you better have your own. You need to have your own alcohol,’” said Megan.
So, did Beyoncé already have SIRDAVIS in the works? Or did her conversation with Megan Thee Stallion inspire her to take the leap?
Either way, Beyoncé fans will have to sit tight and wait for more news on Beyoncé’s SIRDAVIS Rye Whiskey.
