Bardstown Bourbon Company has announced the final installment in the Collaborative Series for 2024. Partnering with Blackberry Farm Brewery, the brand has unveiled a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Blackberry Farm Brewery Oxheart Stout Barrels.

The Blackberry Farm Brewery collaboration is bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $159.99. It will be available exclusively in Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as at Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Louisville tasting room

Bardstown Bourbon Company & Blackberry Farm Brewery Collaboration

Together, Bardstown Bourbon Company and Blackberry Farm Brewery selected and created a custom blend of bourbons aged 6 to 14 years. The blend was then decanted into Blackberry Farm Brewery’s Oxheart stout barrels for a 17-month finishing period. Only 10 barrels were used in the creation of the bourbon, making this a very limited release.

With complete transparency, Bardstown Bourbon Company has released the exact components of the blend. They are as follows:

  • 45% Bardstown Bourbon Company 6 Year Old Bourbon – 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley
  • 25% Kentucky 8 Year Old Bourbon – 53% corn, 26% rye, 21% malted barley
  • 21% Kentucky 14 Year Old Bourbon – 78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley
  • 9% Kentucky 14 Year Old Bourbon – 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley

The resulting bourbon has “dark chocolate, honey, and toasted oak” on the nose. The palate has mocha and cinnamon. On the finish, expect marshmallow, vanilla, and malt.

The Makings Of A Partnership

The collaboration came about following a meeting between Dan Callaway, VP of New Product Development for Bardstown Bourbon Company, and Roy Milner, Blackberry Farm’s Chief Fermentation Officer many years ago.

“Dan Callaway and I met years ago in Louisville, and quickly discovered we shared a passion for beverages and blending. Our paths found us both at Bardstown Bourbon Company in different capacities, and it opened the door for friendship and collaboration,” said Roy Milner. “After a visit to the Brewery, we homed in on the idea of working with one of our favorite recipes, Oxheart Imperial Stout. Not only did I gain a dear friend, Dan’s approach to blending and flavor composition melded with the way we think about our bottlings. I’m proud of what we made together and honored to join the other legacy breweries who have come before us in this groundbreaking series.”
