Altamar Brands has partnered with artist, filmmaker, and pro skier Chris Benchetler to launch new limited editions of its High n’ Wicked Warlander Whiskey and Lágrimas Plata Tequila. The two expressions, which feature original label artwork by Benchetler, are now available online and in select U.S. markets.
The partnership is part of Altamar Brands’ sponsorship of the Mountains of the Moon (MOTM) experience, an event exploring the connections between sport, life, and music with the tunes of the Grateful Dead.
W. L. Lyons Brown, founder and CEO of Altamar Brands, said the collaboration is a “fusion of art, nature, and creation” that combines to make spirits that are “not just exceptional, but also unforgettable.”
The High n’ Wicked Warlander Whiskey (Benchetler No. 3) is a blend of three- and four-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye and Bourbon whiskeys. The blend was chosen after a series of blind tastings with industry experts.
After marrying, the liquid was rebarreled in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-rye casks for just over two months to allow for flavor integration.
Bottled at 99 proof (49.5% ABV), the limited release has a suggested retail price of $54.99.
The accompanying release is the Lágrimas “La Sabina” Plata (Benchetler No. 2), a terroir-driven Tequila.
It is made from agave grown at the high-altitude La Sabina ranch in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
The expression is produced in collaboration with Tequila Cascahuin (NOM 1123) and master distiller Salvador “Chava” Rosales Trejo.
This double-distilled Tequila is bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV) and retails for a suggested price of $59.99.
The collaboration also includes The Bent Bus Mobile Bar, a vehicle hand-painted by Benchetler.
The mobile bar will serve samples and cocktails featuring the new expressions at various U.S. locations throughout the fall and winter.
