Oban Distillery has unveiled the Oban 15 Year Old Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish. The limited-edition expression offers whisky enthusiasts a carefully crafted spirit that marries traditional Scottish distilling methods with Spanish sherry influences. The 15 Year Old is a natural and limited evolution from Oban’s famed 14 Year Old expression.
The new release is bottled at a robust 55.3% ABV and carries a suggested retail price of $150 per 750ml bottle.
Spanish Influence Meets Coastal Character
Created by the distillery’s team of seven artisans, this expression draws inspiration from southern Spain’s Andalusia region while maintaining Oban’s signature coastal profile. The whisky underwent initial maturation in a combination of European Oak Butts and American Oak Hogshead Barrels before receiving a finishing period in both Oloroso and Palo Cortado Sherry Casks.
This dual sherry cask finish imparts notes of dried fruit and toasted almonds while preserving the subtle coastal salinity for which Oban is known.

The distillery recommends pairing this expression with charcuterie selections, particularly aged Manchego cheese, olives, and Jamón Ibérico, highlighting the complementary flavors between the whisky’s sherry influence and traditional Spanish cuisine.
