Larrikin Bourbon Co. Decade Rye Cognac Cask

Decade Rye Cognac Cask is crafted from just 10 barrels of 100% Alberta Rye, aged for 10 years, and finished in a 105-gallon cognac cask.

According to a brand press release, these barrels of rye were originally “destined for a Russian oligarch”. This did not materialize following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Larrikin Bourbon Co. Master Distiller, Greg Keeley, rescued the barrels. When he was later given a cognac cask, he saw an opportunity.

The resulting rye whiskey is a rich and decadent display of rye spice, dried fruit, and oak, bottled at 122.4 proof.

“Sometimes the most remarkable creations arise from unexpected circumstances,” says Greg Keeley, founder and master distiller of Larrikin Bourbon Co. “When we were gifted this exceptional cognac cask, I knew immediately that our 100% rye whiskey could be transformed into something truly extraordinary. Decade Rye represents not just ten years of patience, but the ability to find opportunity in adversity- the Larrikin way.”
